Client Testimonials:

Discover what my clients have to say about the exceptional care and service they receive.

Julie has worked with my Mother for a year in her role of befriender and carer. From the initial meeting we found her highly professional, with all appropriate paperwork, very motivated and an extremely likeable person. We both warmed to Julie immediately and found her to be an interesting and incredibly kind carer.

Julie became a stalwart in Mums care where the social care system could not provide the care she required. I noted my Mother’s mood and outlook on life significantly improve with each of Julie’s visits. I’ve rarely heard her laugh the way she does with Julie, and they formed a wonderful relationship.

Throughout, Julie has remained flexible to my Mother’s needs. On days my Mother didn’t feel up to getting out Julie kept her laughing with her wonderful sense of humour. And on days it was possible she encouraged my Mother and took her on a variety of interesting outings which stimulated and inspired her. Julie’s experience of tour guiding is really an asset and her significant experience in care is incredibly evident. She has a real talent in reading people’s moods and remained responsive to my Mother’s requirements.

Julie clearly has a fantastic understanding of Dementia and the disease process, allowing her to provide the excellent care she does.

During more challenging times Julie has supported my Mother and our family and has gone above and beyond on several occasions. For that we are all immensely grateful.

We are so lucky to have found Julie and I have no doubt this year would have been a significant struggle without her. I whole heartedly recommend her services to anyone requiring them.

Emergency Consultant Royal Liverpool Hospital       June ’24

I first met Julie Shields in the Autumn of 2022.  My late husband was 93 at the time, very disabled so he could not be left alone. A mutual friend recommended Julie who came once a week to allow me to get out.

She was completely reliable and always arrived on time.

They established an immediate rapport and my husband looked forward  very much to her visits. She never treated him as disabled and although he was beginning to get dementia that did not stop them having interesting conversations.

After his death in January 2023 I asked her to continue the weekly visits as I appreciated her company, which she has been doing ever since.

She has all the qualities needed in a carer. She is totally professional. She is always cheerful and has the ability to listen which is a big asset as I talk a lot!  When the weather is suitable, she takes me out but never tries to impose her will if I don’t feel like it. She is sensitive to atmosphere and never patronises me.

I have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone in need of care and assistance.

Julie has been a family friend since the mid 1980’s via her friendship with one of my daughters.

More recently I have encouraged Julie to start a service where she was able to provide flexible support to people as their personal assistant, knowing that she was a qualified social worker and Blue Badge Tour Guide, plus having experience of working in the NHS for four years as a Support Worker in the Reablement Team, where she assisted people with personal care, meal preparation, and medication prompts.

I have often engaged Julie as a befriender, and we have had many enjoyable outings together, enjoying conversation and company over a meal or a coffee and a cake. I have always found her to be trustworthy, reliable, and friendly, I highly recommend her.

I have known Julie Shields since 2012 when she trained and qualified as a Registered Blue Badge Tourist Guide. As a guide I have engaged her many times and watched her progress with pleasure.

To further her career, and in a context of her being a qualified Social Worker, she now also works as a self-employed Personal Assistant, and has fully covered herself with private carers insurance, alongside having a DBS in place, in order that she could care for disabled people’s needs and escort them on outings.

Being partially sighted myself and physically disabled she has assisted me in many ways, and I can thoroughly recommend her for the ventures she now wishes to commence.
